What is Sex & Young America?
The constant sexual messages of our culture have
shaped today's more permissive society. Young people are especially
at risk, as they are growing up bombarded with messages that give
them a false view of sex and relationships.
For a year and a half, the National Coalition for
the Protection of Children & Families traveled the country to
interview teens about these issues. Over 600 interviews with young
people from across the United States revealed their desire to learn
the truth about sex from adults they trust.
In
partnership with organizations such as, Campus Crusade for Christ,
Hope Now, Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship, Josh McDowell Ministry
and Young Life, the National Coalition set out to produce products
to help adults effectively talk about sex with youth. The result
- Sex & Young America and Sex & Young America: The Real
Deal.
Youth
Leaders and Educators!
The
entire Sex & Young America package, a combination of videos
and written curriculum for use in youth group settings, will help
lead youth to a better understanding of the sexualized culture in
which they are growing up. This unique relationship-driven tool
will also help educate, challenge and encourage young people in
their decisions about sexual activity and its consequences.
Sex
& Young America includes 4 videos (3 for meetings with teens,
1 for a meeting with parents), 1 Facilitator Guide, 1 Student Guide,
1 Parent Guide and 1 Promotional Poster. Each video tape features
teens talking about issues such as sex in the media, the effects
of today's sexualized culture, what it means to be a virgin and
the problem of Internet pornography. These videos will serve as
conversation starters for meetings with youth and will give parents
an idea of what you will be talking about with their children.
Attention
Parents!
Sex
& Young America: The Real Deal is a video and guide to help
you understand the pressures teens face today and learn how to effectively
discuss these difficult issues with your children. Watching the
Real Deal video will give you insight into today's sexual teenage
culture and hear, straight from teens, what they really think parents
should know.
